Glossary of words Hinduism Spirituality Inner meanings explained (P)

  • Paapi (Committer of Sin)
  • Parmanand (State of Ecstasy)
  • Pralaya (end of cosmos)
  • Punarjanma (Rebirth)
  • Pundit (Priest)

  • Paapi (Committer of Sin)

Paapi is one who is unable able to differentiate absolute truth from all that is Sinful ... actions required to be abhorred under all circumstances.

Such ignorants are required to be pitied rather than punished for the doer of all actions is atman the soul within and not the egoist body! The manifest form of any being is bound by the Karma it has to perform willingly or unwillingly. None can escape the dictates of the doer (the Atman within).

    Parmanand (State of Ecstasy)

Parmanand is the stage in the Life of Human Being when he sheds all his artificial inhibitions and orients self towards search of the absolute truth. The more one proceeds towards the truthful end, the bliss felt by him in all actions is but part of the eternal joy one had been seeking. Ananda ... the state of experiencing eternal and blissful joy finds its logical end when one reaches the source of all inhibitions ... the stage of Parmanand ... when all senses gets subdued, mind becomes absolutely calm and feeling of oneness of God is experienced.

Seek of the seekers, aim of the Yogis, hopefulness of the Karma Yogis, a mile stone for those in search of God, stage of Parmanand is sought by one in all (though subconsciously in most cases). Not to be confused with happiness which is ephemeral and short-lived ... Parmanand is a permanent feature once you reach the requisite level of perfection.

Swami Ramakrishna Paramhansa and sage Ramana Maharshi both experienced and reached the level of Self Realization where Parmanand is a permanent feature to be experienced forever until one leaves the body (the mortal frame) and attains Moksha Salvation.

What a noble goal to achieve in a Lifetime!!

    Pralaya (end of cosmos)

It is a time not for sorrow but for rejoicing ... for all Atmans Souls in the Cosmos have no alternative but to attain Moksha Salvation. No room left for Maya to play its role ... the Cosmos rolls back to its original size, the size of a half a thumb! all atmans souls have attained Moksha Salvation, the very purpose of creation is over resulting in Pralaya (collapse) of the entire Cosmos.

all atmans souls having thus purified fully ... shine in its Cosmic glory known as God the Creator (God, a cluster of all purified atmans in the cosmos). Unable to retain itself, this Cosmic source of energy again splits with a big bang and spreads out with full force in all directions. All purified Atmans get scattered all over the Cosmos and in the process get engulfed in the chakra of Maya (ignorance). These Atmans will again and again manifests a body (of the total 8.4 Million manifestations an Atman can have in a Lifetime) until they free themselves from the ham shackles forever.

The initial travel of Atmans Souls in the ever expanding Cosmos after the big bang is centered on the Atmans gaining impurities as they travel further and further into the infinite expanse of the cosmos. Comes a day when a solar system type of structure is formed and ultimately Life takes its roots on one of the cooled planets.

This barren planet will hence forth be known as Mother planet for it becomes a sojourn for traveling Atmans to manifest a body leading to their purification. This manifested being which starts is journey as an Amoebae will evolve into plant Life after a certain period of time. Thereafter, it will evolve into animals and finally into the shape of a Human Being. This form of a Human Being alone is capable of liberation of atman soul forever to regains its pristine glory. The power of these liberated Atmans can be invoked by anyone on Mother planet. What a system created by God ... absolutely foolproof and exhilarating for those who has had a glimpse of his domain!

As per popular belief, Pralaya (end of cosmos) is a time when all Life ends everywhere ... all over the Cosmos. As viewed by the physical senses it appears to be so. On the Cosmic scale, Pralaya is a cleansing time for the Cosmos ... a time for start of a new Cosmos! It will again take billions of years of the evolutionary process before someone as powerful as a Human Being shall again manifest only to liberate in the end ... attain the status of a man God like Mahavira, Buddha, Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed. This would be the start of the precipitating process. One Atman soul after another will follow suit and gain Self Realization.

Why is it so that the physical manifest Life is in contradiction to the Cosmic process! What is death for a Human Being is a new Life for an atman the soul within!! What is night for a physical being (a time to give rest to the physical self) ... is a time of reckoning for atman the soul within. During night time ... every atman the soul within in all its glory and fury gives a glimpse of its desires to the physical self through the medium of dreams. Unless this happens, the egoist I would ruin the body leading it to catastrophic results. The present body runs owing to the balance resultant Karma of previous lives atman the soul within had manifested and is not the result of present Life alone. The physical body cannot run itself. It is but a cluster of inert matter which comes to Life only after an atman the soul within takes over.

No Atman changes or takes over a body in the middle of the process. The growth of the body is initiated from the beginning and the evolutionary tendency within makes it to grow. Once the body is left by the Atman, it is as dead as the inert matter it is comprised of.

At the time of Pralaya, all Atmans are forced to leave the body resulting in death of all jivas all over the Brahmaand Cosmos. What a glorious end! Nothing more to manifest ... all purified Atmans combine together. God the Creator reaches the pinnacle of its glory ... The absolute power of the Creator manifests!!

    Punarjanma (Rebirth)

Punarjanma is a fact which the ego of an average Human Being fails to admit. Why would one with an average intelligence admit that he or she is not the controller of self. Punarjanma signifies the existence of a greater entity bigger than us, the individual self. Our bloated ego does not want to believe in this cosmological truth. We want to remain what we are.

Once we believe in existence of god and the truth that we have an atman the soul within us, our Faith in God would propel us towards the absolute truth that atman the soul within us will go on changing the garbs (the body) again and again. We all know that one who is born shall die one day. Change of the body by atman the soul within is an eternal process. What has grown old must decay and die. Why weep over the inevitable when Atman within us is always live and never dies.

Moha (attachment) towards one makes us feel bereaved but all Atmans are different and unattached towards none. When Atman shall take a new body as per the theory of evolution (a Punarjanma for a body) ... why fret and fume over the inevitable. To question the sacrosanct fundamental of Life is beyond the scope and thinking of a Human Being. Let us all have full Faith in God and his creation ... the meaning of Punarjanma (rebirth) would become clear by itself.

    Pundit (Hindu Priest)

Is one who carries out all religious ceremonies as prescribed in the sacred texts of the Religion he follows.

On every auspicious occasion... It is the moral responsibility of the Pundit to invoke the mighty spirits to bless the ceremonial function .. Be it the fixation of a marriage, entering a newly built house or the opening ceremony of a shop or a factory.

Pundits play a very import role in community activities. Every individual household cannot manage without one. On the death of an elder in the family, it is only the Pundit who guides through all the rituals required as per the religious manuals. Totally unaware of the requisite procedures a lay Hindu finds himself closeted on both sides as if in a closed tunnel.
