Glossary of words Hinduism Spirituality Inner meanings explained (K)

  • Kaal (Cosmic time factor)
  • Kalpa vriksha (the wishing tree)
  • Kama (Sensuous feeling)
  • Karma
  • Karta (Creator)
  • Kaivalya Jnana (the absolute knowledge)
  • Krodha (Anger)

  • Kaal (Cosmic time factor)

Kaal the Eternal time factor, the controller of destiny of all beings on Mother Earth ... Is responsible for maintaining the balance, an equilibrium in the physical manifested World of ours.

Someone dies, atman the soul within leaves the body. Where does it go? It remains in this World but in a dimension unseen by us. Who takes care of this happening? Prompted by the resultant Karma of a Jiva at any given moment of time, Kaal (the eternal time factor) performs this act by bringing about the death of one.

Unless Kaal has come, Life of not one be snatched away. When Paap Karma exceeds the allotted hours, the body is forced to leave atman the soul within. Kaal has no fixity in time. With the ever expanding Universe like a blowing balloon, the edge of the Universe remains undefined. If one travel faster than the speed of light, there is always a possibility to reach the frontier of time (the boundary of the cosmos).

Such a happening can never take place in the physical World. Bodily transportation of Human Beings would never be possible. Fantasies like Star Trek etc., keep our imagination alive. For scientists and physicist it shall always remain a theory on paper. In the World of Atmans (The Soul Within) such a happening is a common feature. Atmans (The Soul Within) are not governed by time. They travel to any part of the cosmos as and when they wish.

Entering the domain of atman the soul within, all is pure energy. Physical manifest form has no significance for it except for the fact that every atman the soul within has to manifest a body to gain purity. Only then alone can atman the soul within be liberated forever from the clutches of Maya (ignorance).

We are all controlled by God through the irreversible laws of Karma and Kaal. He is invisible. Those who speak of God having a form are ignorant of the fact that God lives in a domain beyond the perception of senses. One can organize a journey to the Moon from planet earth. How?

    Kalpa vriksha (the wishing tree)

Kalpa Vriksha is one of those prized possessions of the earlier era when Humanity was in its infant stages. Science was practically non-existent and for Human Beings to survive, a source was needed to fulfill its basic requirements and necessities. At this stage, there were Kalpa vrikshas spread all over so that one could ask for anything one wished and all wishes were fulfilled then and there.

Mounted with such paramount power, still the inherent greed of man prompted him to perform still lower deeds resulting in total vanishing of this strange power of a wishing tree from the face of Mother Earth. Such trees existed almost 10,000 years ago, the age prior to even Lord Sri Krishna (and his preachings of Bhagavad Gita, the Song Supreme) came into existence.

Never ever bring a single chain of thought about non existence of such trees ever to your mind. In all Sacred texts of most Religions being followed in India today... One finds a reference of existence of such trees. Never doubt what is sacred and pure. Thy very existence depends on the Grace of God. Why disbelieve!!

    Kama (Sensuous feeling)

Kama: Venus, the Goddess of love rules this sensational feeling. Overcome with Kama can a man loose complete control of his senses and commit crimes of most heinous nature.

Feeling passionate, the carnal desires seeking pleasure from anything sexual, desire to be one with the opposite sex, the act which leads to production of offspring's are all but attributes of Kama ... The nature and conduct of absolute Cupid, the God of love.

Wise ones took absolute control of Kama and became Mahavira, Buddha, Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed. The Greek civilization fell from grace as the Greeks were avid lovers and were more physical than mental beings.

The sense of being physical is awakened by the inherent Kama within every being. It is extremely difficult to contain oneself within the privacy of non-indulgence. Even a powerful Rishi (Saint) of the yester years Mahirshi Vishwamitra could not contain himself on the sight of a beautiful young lady Maneka taking bath and lost control of his senses and fell from grace. The moment he indulged himself there was nothing left but to repent!

    Karma

Karma is the most grossly misunderstood word in all of Scriptural texts. The literal meaning of the word as explained to the masses by Pundits is its relation to the physical concept of a being. You perform doing Karma as a physical manifested being and this shall suffice your journey to the Swarga Heaven ... Provided you earn Punya Karma!

What one fails to explain is that physical work alone does not constitute the in-depth meaning of Karma ... The physical work being performed by one is only the tip of the ice berg. Committing a sin even in thoughts is committing a Paap Karma! For achieving any aim of Life one has to to accumulate Punya (a hidden factor). It is only the Punya or Paap Karma performed by one which decides what body atman the soul within shall manifest in next Life!!

You work (perform your Karma) like an animal ... You are bound to be born one in next Life. You are a true soldier of God, respect all and continue performing your Dharma without violating the right of others ... You may be born an ascetic who while living in a family lives leads a pious Life. Further more depending on your Karma, if you are granted a boon by the Almighty God ... You may Realize-Self, become one with God the Creator within that Life!!

Karma ... with hidden ingredients consists of performing an action both in physical and the Mental World. You do not have to physically kill one to do a Paap Karma. A single stray thought of causing injury to one gains you a Paap Karma. Though the physical harm was not done and the negative marks awarded are much less for a thought injury compared to a physical injury but you get punished by God!!

What of thousands or even more stray thoughts entering your mind daily with little or no control over them!! Your only remedy is invocation of pure thoughts all the time and keeping self engaged in doing a Karma (both physical and mental work) with a single chief aim of Life hovering in your head! God is watching over one and all ... all the time. Whatever Karma you perform is getting recorded in the book of your Life ... Still, do we insist on doing Paap Karma!!!

Think of it ... why invoke negative thoughts on a Cosmic sojourn which is but a fleeting moment in your Cosmic Life span! The average Life of a Human Being of about 70 years ... Is it enough to know one another (All beings ... All are specific creations of God on Mother Earth)!! The vast nature and its beauty ... What all have we explored jointly ... How many seas fathomed with its flora and fauna ... How many expeditions taken to remote corners of the World!!!

Jainism elaborates the meaning of Bhava-Karma (Thought Karma) best ... you think ill will of one and you earn Paap Karma. None can absolve you from this. The total preachings of Jainism are based on this precept. What a noble way to lead a Life ... Never cause ill will of one even in your thoughts!! If only all could follow this advise ... The World would have become truly “one family”!!!

One invokes a thought first before acting on that. No wrong thoughts ... You shall lead a Life full of good things ... Out to help one and all who come in your path! Why not block the ill thoughts at the roots. No invocation of bad thoughts ... No wrong action to perform!! How straight and clear the message is. All Human Beings except the very few preceptors of Humanity ... Are they not wanting to rage to the ground the beautiful World created by God.

    Karta (Creator)

Karta of the cosmos is one. Call it by the name of Brahman, Bhagwan, Prabhu or Parmatma the Creator of the whole cosmos shall ever remain one. Consider it having a form or a form less being, a mighty computer preset to function based on the Karma of all individual beings ... it never interferes with the Karma or the Destiny of one.

Pray and thy destiny will change. Hope shall you not. Numerous are the ways to pray, whether you go to a temple, mosque or a church. All paths lead to him. Choice is yours ... All are correct! To reach him, search thy within. Encounter your inner self and you shall arrive at the truth which evaded all your Life. When you prayed you invoked the mighty powers of one who is above all. Submit to him with all humility. He is there to guide you at each and every stage of Life.

Whatever be the nature of our prayers, shall we not forget that we shall always get what we truly desire. We have but to perform our Karma. Good thoughts earn Punya (merits) and bad thoughts result in Papa (sins).

To rise above the ordinary think lofty thoughts, help thy community and you shall be graced by God the Creator.

    Kaivalya Jnana (the absolute knowledge)

Kaivalya Jnana is the Eternal wisdom on achieving which every Human Being Emancipates forever. A stage in Life when a Human Being rises above the mundane and gains those Spiritual Heights wherein nothing more is left to learn. All is Jnana, Kevala (only) Jnana (wisdom and only wisdom)!

The stage of Kaivalya Jnana is achieved when one burns out his total Karma (of the past and present) and what remains is only Jnana, Kaivalya Jnana. A stage of all bliss when having become pure one can invoke all Jnana contained in the Cosmos. All mundane experiences of Life are left with no meaning. Immersed in the thought of the Eternal ... Atman soul rejoices in the ever lasting blissful state.

    Krodha (Anger)

Krodha: Unable to control this basic instinct present in every Human since birth ... Is the foremost of all ills practiced by Human Beings today.

Cause of differentiation between an ordinary Human Being and a man of wisdom, this is the last of all instincts controlling which every Human Being can become a living God ... A true Mahavira, Buddha or a Jesus Christ!

Think of it and think seriously? Why do people from the western World don't fret and fume over petty matters. They are sort of immune to Krodha (Anger). One will rarely witness a westerner getting angry in general. Remaining calm and peaceful they concentrate their energies on more fruitful jobs.

Reverse is the case with an Indian. One adverse remark about his integrity can cause him to flare up even though the act was unintentional.

Living in India a common man mostly remains bogged down by the social circumstances not within his control. The moment the same person lands on the foreign soil, particularly the Western sector comprising of USA, UK and Europe ... He is a changed personality. Totally free of the social barriers, we see the best in them. The affect of the social culture and the most beautiful natural surroundings results in our hearing of an Indian student topping the math’s Olympiad, a geek having become a famous computer personality or one getting a Nobel Prize. Sky is the limit for such Indians living abroad. Same Indians if forced to live in India will most likely behave like an ordinary Indian.
