The doctrine of Bhagavad-Gita was put forward to mankind by Lord Krishna... an avatar of his era (God manifest in human form) in the battle of Mahabharata between Pandavas and Kauravas! The Pandavas represent Dharma (righteousness) in contrast to adharma (lawlessness) practiced by Kauravas! Both Pandavas and Kauravas represent two sides of the same coin.

Pandavas and Kauravas belonged to the same clan yet, Pandavas followed path of Dharma (righteousness) as against Kauravas taking the path of adharma (lawlessness). The present society is in grip of adharma (lawlessness). Be it any part... corner of world situation is the same! It is in such times essence of sacred Bhagavad-Gita becomes all the more essential!

The writings contained in holy book Bhagavad-Gita are perennial in nature! Even after passage of above 3600 years... truthfulness of Bhagavad-Gita remains the same! The contents of Bhagavad-Gita are applicable as much today as were in times of Lord Krishna, Pandavas and Kauravas! With passage of time teachings of Bhagavad-Gita never dilute... but interpretations do!

Amongst other important books and writings of Hinduism come the holy Vedas... that primarily consists of four major Vedas... the Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur Veda and Atharva Veda! All the four Vedas are voluminous documents much beyond reach of commoners... masses... the prime reason why human beings could not follow the teachings of Vedas of their own!

Vedas primarily were meant for old times when rituals were part of daily life! With the scientific advancements in vogue today... the need for rituals has decreased! Particularly in the field of spirituality rituals carry no meaning! For a serious seeker of spirituality indulging in rituals... religion would simply retard the spiritual journey than push it further!

With the coming of Lord Krishna... an avatar of his era (God manifest in human form)... the messages contained in Vedas were reduced to Bhagavad-Gita which is also termed Vedanta (end of Vedas). Now the masses could assimilate the teachings contained in Bhagavad-Gita... the gist of which can be found hanging in most bookshops of India.

Bhagavad-Gita not only forms part of most important books and writings of Hinduism... it is in fact the true essence of life! In absence of Bhagavad-Gita human beings on mother Earth could never reach the stage of enlightenment. Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed... all followed teachings of Bhagavad-Gita ceremoniously to gain enlightenment!

Amongst another set of Hindu religious books are Upanishads (independent treatises) of which Katha Upanishad, Kena Upanishad and Isa Upanishad being the foremost! There are above 200 Upanishads in vogue of which about 9 ~12 play a pivotal role in Hinduism! Jnanavalakya Upanishad... composed and compiled by Sage Jnanavalakya is the most voluminous of all!

Sage Jnanavalakya was a Brahma jnani... who gained enlightenment in his lifetime! He was a famous sage of Janaka era (King Janaka was father of Sita in Ramayana). Maitreyi the dutiful second wife of Sage Jnanavalakya also gained enlightenment in her lifetime. She is one of the two ladies who gained enlightenment in history of mankind! The other was Gargi... a famous philosopher of her times!

The important books and writings of Hinduism namely the sacred Bhagavad-Gita, the Vedas and the Upanishads play a very pivotal role in the history of mankind! In absence of Hinduism... mankind carries no meaning! For crossing the ocean of samsara (worldly life)... for gaining enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) in present life time the only refuge is seeking wisdom from important books and writings of Hinduism... the sacred Bhagavad-Gita and the Upanishads!

I was born in a Jain family yet I follow the teachings of sacred Bhagavad-Gita of Hinduism ceremoniously! Lord Krishna was born about thousand years earlier to Mahavira... the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism (preceptor). The sacred teachings of Bhagavad-Gita are without impurity... they would continue to form essence of life for millenniums!

The holy book of Bhagavad-Gita carries the same importance as that of heart in a body... as that of a soul Atman in the body! In absence of a beating heart... a soul Atman... the body would simply decay and die! In absence of Bhagavad-Gita... devoid of wisdom contained in Bhagavad-Gita mankind would just not progress on the spiritual scale!

No doubt as of today United states of America is superpower number one as it exhibits the best practices of physical manifest world yet, the virtues of spiritual world always manifest with India... the spiritual domain of the world! In absence of India, Hinduism at large... the world cannot sustain for long!

It is presence of spiritual messages... the existence of spiritual saints and sages of different era that mankind exists in present shape! In absence of truthfulness... in absence of Dharma (righteousness)... in absence of spiritual wisdom that is largely confined to important books and writings of Hinduism... everything in the physical manifest world would appear farce!

In the coming world war 3 that is expected around 2012 (more particularly between 2012~2014)... the world shall witness death of 1200 million people! In the melee life would lose its meaning! For the world to stage a comeback... for the meanings of life to survive... the coming of a Messiah... a spiritual avatar... a spiritual master of the highest order is necessitated!

Bhagavan Kalki... the awaited Messiah would be from India! The peninsula of India is surrounded from three sides by water... the prime reason why Nostradamus in his quatrains has clearly stated that the awaited Messiah would come from a region that looks like a turban! The messages of Nostradamus were always veiled to escape the wrath of King of his times!

In the coming end times... there is no need to despair! All is dependent upon our karma performed. Those with a sunny disposition and godly thinking would reap benefits of positive karma performed all the time. Those indulging in vice... nefarious activities all the time would succumb to their fate... the result of bad karma performed!
