Ways to Get Closer to God

Want to know ways to get closer to God... become a spiritual being... a traveler of the spiritual path... a serious seeker of spirituality not religion... the path of rituals! If I seriously want to know how do I get closer to God... we need understanding the following precepts of Hinduism detailed in sacred Bhagavad-Gita... the foremost of all sacred scriptures of Hinduism existing on mother Earth!

Bhagavad-Gita of Hinduism is one such document that contains ABC of everything contained in universe... the whole cosmos (the present cosmos consists of many universes). Amongst all the sacred scriptures existing on Mother Earth relating to every region, Bhagavad-Gita of Hinduism is the foremost of all that contains everything worth knowable in the cosmic system!

For all practical purposes... a serious seeker of spirituality... a true follower of Bhagavad-Gita finally gains enlightenment... the stage of kaivalya jnana! Dwelling in Bhagavad-Gita... fathoming the pearls of wisdom contained in sacred Bhagavad-Gita... following the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana I finally realized God in 1993 at 37 years of age!

The 700 shlokas verses of Bhagavad-Gita are without a parallel in mankind! Yet, the contents of Bhagavad-Gita can never be understood literally... one needs reading in between the lines! Right from the stage of Mahavira... the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism (preceptor)... them Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ, Prophet Mohammed... all gained enlightenment following the precepts contained in Bhagavad-Gita!

The missing years in the life of Jesus Christ explains it all. During the missing years Jesus Christ remained in India (erstwhile Bharatvarsha) to gain wisdom of Bhagavad-Gita from the famed Nalanda and Taxila universities of yore! Presently the ruins of Nalanda lay in Bihar state of India and those of Taxila in present Pakistan!

The precepts of Hinduism that need understanding are-

What is god?

Before dwelling on the subject of God we need understanding what God truly means... the definition of God! If we ask the masses at large... what is God probably none would be able to explain... give the correct definition of God Almighty! It is an absolute truth of life that the definition of God Almighty simply cannot be summed up in words still; the proper definition of God Almighty is detailed in sacred Bhagavad-Gita of Hinduism!

As per Bhagavad-Gita... the doctrine given to mankind by Lord Krishna... an avatar of his era (God manifest in human form) God Almighty is not the form of human beings. It is supreme consciousness that pervades whole cosmos. If a single grain of sand is an independent soul Atman... the whole mound God Almighty!

In laymen terms... the definition of God Almighty is the sum total of all purified souls atmans in the cosmos at a given point of time! Does this mean the entire cluster of souls atmans if they reach the stage of absolute purity... would be termed God Almighty yes, the truth is so! No sooner dissolution of entire cosmos occurs (termed Pralaya in Hinduism)... devoid of all dross impurities within... the cluster of purified souls' atmans reduces to size of half a thumb.

As per sacred Bhagavad-Gita of Hinduism... this mass size of half a thumb is what we know as God Almighty! Unable to understand this precept... the masses and commoners take route of religion... rituals! One either believes in Sakaar form of God (having a form) or the Nirakaar form (without a form).

Those believing in rituals... the religious path of life cling to Sakaar form of God! It is easier to pray and worship God in the Sakaar form. Absence of an idol of God in temples and churches would make the masses abhor religion! It is difficult for masses and the commoners to visualize a God without a form... they need a medium to pray or worship God!

Those traveling the path of spirituality... those traveling the path of jnana yoga believe in Nirakaar form of God (a formless God)! A serious seeker of spirituality understands that God is without a form... it is a cluster of primordial cosmic energy much beyond comprehension of most human beings. The essence of life lay in recognizing God... be it Sakaar or the Nirakaar form.

The followers of Islamic Dharma do not believe in concept of idol worship... they practically believe in Nirakaar form of God! This does not mean followers of Islamic Dharma follow path of jnana yoga! The gist of matter is... followers of Islamic Dharma do not believe in concept of idol worship... rest is all speculation!

Whatever the path... the means followed... if we seriously desire finding ways to get closer to God... we have to try and understand the definition of God as detailed in Bhagavad-Gita of Hinduism. We may or may not follow the path of Yoga... yet we need assimilating the fact that God is always Nirakaar in form (that is without a form).

Attributes of god

For understanding God we need understanding the primary attributes of God as detailed in Hinduism... the sacred Bhagavad-Gita! As defined in Hinduism sacred scriptures... God Almighty... also termed Parmatman (supreme Atman), Brahman, Karta, Sanatana Purusha, Bhagwan and Prabhu has three primary attributes around which rotates the concept of God Almighty!

Lord Brahma is the creative attribute of God Almighty. Lord Brahma is considered creator of the cosmic system! The cosmic system having formed... it is responsibility of Lord Vishnu to maintain it. Lord Vishnu is the second attribute of God Almighty... the maintainer of the cosmic system! Lord Shiva... the third attribute of God Almighty is the most powerful one.

With Lord Shiva rests the power of cosmic system... power over life and death! Over life because unless death occurs... no life can exist in cosmic system! Something that has taken birth has to die one day! In absence of death the cosmic system simply could not sustain itself! It is only after death of body... soul Atman... the spirit within manifests another body!

No life in cosmic system grows out of nowhere! Our soul Atman is the ultimate master and controller of the body. Our soul Atman has manifested human form to work out its karma... remove the dross impurities within soul Atman! In absence of the doctrine of karma... the whole cosmos would fail... simply decay and die! To survive the cosmos must we ever evolving!

The doctrine of karma, law of karma is accountant general of cosmic system... maintaining account of every single action performed by every living being that exists in cosmos! As is our karma... accordingly one manifests destiny. The control of destiny always lay in hands of human beings still; mankind continues blaming God Almighty for all woes suffered by it!

In happier times people never go to temple, church or mosque to offer obeisance to God Almighty! It is only in times of distress we remember god.... The prime reason why our prayers go unanswered by God Almighty! Prayers are never a one-way path. Unless we commit something to God, God never obliges us of its own!

The control of life in the cosmic system as per Hinduism doctrines rests with Lord Shiva... the most powerful attribute of God Almighty... Brahman in Hinduism! The Hindu trinity of gods comprises of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva (also termed Mahesh in Hinduism). For worshiping God... for praying to God we do not need praying to different attributes independently.

Yet, most human beings worship different attributes of God Almighty seeking monetary... material benefits all the time! The path of religion... path of rituals does not lead human beings anywhere! For following path of jnana yoga... the path of absolute wisdom... one need not indulge in different attributes of God Almighty.

For a commoner... the masses it was difficult to pray to God Almighty in the singular form! Since the time of Vedas... the period of rituals... the spiritual masters of yore created three attributes of God Almighty to simplify the procedure of prayers and worshiping! For living the physical manifest life in a meaningful manner... praying to any attribute of God Almighty might suffice.

But for a serious seeker of spirituality... a traveler of spiritual path... it is indulgence in teachings of Bhagavad-Gita that is necessitated! In absence of wisdom contained in Bhagavad-Gita... mankind would still be indulging in rituals as in the past. The wisdom of Bhagavad-Gita is a sure shot method of getting closer to God Almighty at the earliest!

Who created god

As per Bhagavad-Gita of Hinduism God Almighty exists from beginning of time! The doctrine of Maya (veil of illusion) explains concept of creation of God with clarity. As per doctrine of Maya the whole cosmic system exists only in thoughts of God. Why? It is for the simple logic that if present cosmos has a boundary then what beyond... and if we go by the logic that present cosmos does not have a boundary... it has to exist from beginning of time!

Analyzing in detail it becomes clear that present cosmos does not seem to have a boundary ... it seems endless! In the circumstances... the doctrine of Maya (veil of illusion) seems true! The moment veil of ignorance removes from our soul Atman... human beings realized their true inner self... reached the stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana).

Right from first manifestation as a human being until last... the 8.4 millionth manifestation... effort of soul Atman remains removal of ignorance... removal of dross impurities within! By fathoming depth of wisdom contained in sacred Bhagavad-Gita of Hinduism human beings finally removed the veil of ignorance... reached the stage of kaivalya jnana (termed enlightenment in English).

Here we need to remember that human form has been manifested by our soul Atman after passing through 7.3 million manifestations in insect, plant and animal form! In the human form alone we have 1.1 million manifestations (an earthly life cycle of 12.4 million years) to reach the stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana). Human form is the highest manifest stage in cosmic life cycle!

Who created God or why got created the cosmic system is one query that is prohibited to be asked in the sacred Bhagavad-Gita of Hinduism! The only query... one single query that is prohibited to be asked in the sacred Bhagavad-Gita of Hinduism is... why god Almighty created cosmos? This fundamental question does not have a simple logic.

The answer to this query becomes clear only when human beings neared the stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana)... never before! Dominated by five senses and mind human beings failed to interpret the logistics of the cosmic system. It is a truth of life that wisdom does not mean gaining anything in life.

The essence of wisdom lay in shedding dross impurities within the soul Atman... the ignorance within the soul Atman! The moment complete dross impurities within the soul Atman removed... human beings reached the stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana). The purified soul Atman finally regains its original pure prime pristine primordial form which was never possible otherwise.

The concept of God Almighty... its relationship with souls' atmans can only be understood with an open mind following the path of logistics. Most human beings dictated by their bloated ego failed to understand the precepts of cosmic system. For commoners, masses gaining materialistic riches, pursuing wanton desires remain a permanent goal in life!

Where is god

The answer to where is God lay in precepts of Hinduism contained in Bhagavad-Gita. As per teachings of Christianity... abode of God is kingdom of heaven! It is an absolute misnomer. Such preaching’s also predominant in Hinduism. Those following the path of religion... rituals believe that reaching the kingdom of heaven (swarga in Hinduism) means attaining moksha (salvation)!

God Almighty is not form of human beings... neither has it carried any other form! God Almighty exists all over cosmos. How? At the time of big bang when God Almighty explodes self... all pure souls atmans scattered all over cosmos at unimaginable speeds. In the melee pure souls atmans gathered impurities similar as a rolling ball gathers moss.

To cleanse themselves of dross impurities within starts the cosmic life cycle of a soul Atman. Initially starting life as an amoeba (single cell formation)... the first manifestation in cosmic life cycle... the soul Atman further evolves into multi-cell formation, then insect life, plant life and finally form of human beings!

It is only in human form the soul Atman regains its original lost pure prime pristine form... the moment human beings reached the stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and finally salvation (moksha). God Almighty exists all over cosmos is proved from the fact that souls atmans exist in every corner of cosmos.

If an independent grain of sand is a soul Atman... the whole mound God Almighty! Every soul Atman is God Almighty in minuscule form! God Almighty is not different from us... our original real self... our soul Atman... the spirit within! The moment human beings realized their original real self... the inner self... the spirit within all is over for the soul Atman within!

From first manifestation to last... the 8.4 millionth manifestation effort of every soul Atman remains reaching end of cosmic life at the earliest... the prime reason why our soul Atman all the time prompts from within to travel spiritual path at the earliest! Travel in human form is the most pleasant experience for a soul Atman. It is only in human form every soul Atman finally liberated self from cycle of birth and death forever!

We need not search for God anywhere... we only need removing ignorance... dross impurities within the soul Atman! The moment complete dross impurities within the soul Atman removed... our soul Atman finally reached its cosmic end of life... the 8.4 millionth manifestation! The wisdom of Bhagavad-Gita gets necessitated for removing ignorance within the soul Atman.

By assimilating pearls of wisdom contained in Bhagavad-Gita... serious seekers of spirituality finally reached domain of God... the kingdom of God! It is the kingdom of God where rests God Almighty... not kingdom of heaven as stipulated in Christianity! After moksha salvation... the liberated soul Atman finally entered kingdom of God (termed Vaikuntha in Hinduism)... a point of no return!

Let us take an example... if God Almighty consists of 64 independent souls’ atmans... then treating God Almighty as a puzzle containing 64 pieces... after gaining enlightenment and salvation moksha... the independent pieces of puzzle occupy their distinct destined place. This is how God Almighty again builds itself up!

The moment all independent 64 pieces of puzzle combine together one by one... the purpose of cosmos gets completed. As and when an independent soul Atman reached the stage of liberation ... when human beings gained enlightenment and moksha salvation... this liberated soul Atman occupied its distinct destined place in the kingdom of God.

All independent souls atmans having reached cosmic end of life... the 8.4 millionth manifestation... the entire cosmos collapses and devoid of dross impurities within every soul Atman, God Almighty comes back to its original shape... the size of half a thumb... the collective power of all purified souls atmans in the cosmos at a given moment of time!

This enormous primordial cosmic power... the size of half a thumb we call God Almighty unable to retain itself for long in its prime pure state again explodes with a big bang... giving rise to a new cosmos... a new journey of life! As a layman... as a person controlled by five senses and mind to fathom the depth of wisdom contained in Bhagavad-Gita is difficult yet, not impossible!

Experiencing god

For experiencing God... for getting closer to God human beings need traveling uncharted path of spirituality... the path of unknown! People say the path of spirituality is full of thorns... I say with hundred percent confidence... conviction... path of spirituality is not full of thorns... it is made of thorns! Spirituality demands highest level of perfection that is possible in a human form.

Reaching stage of enlightenment and finally salvation moksha is not that easy to achieve! In the last about 150 years amongst 7 billion people existing world over... only two persons gained enlightenment and finally salvation moksha... Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana! Both the spiritual stalwarts reached the end of journey via the path of jnana yoga!

For realizing God... for reaching stage of self realization... for gaining enlightenment... the stage of kaivalya jnana human beings need establishing absolute control over five senses and mind. Only after we subdue the five senses... we establish control over mind power. Simultaneously we need practicing absolute celibacy for a minimum period of 12 years in continuation.

The practice of absolute celibacy results in gradual awakening of kundalini Shakti... the coiled serpentine energy lying in base of spine! As our kundalini rises up the spine... ignorance within human beings removed... one became wiser in the journey of life! The moment full awakening of kundalini resulted... Sahasrara Chakra (thousand petaled Lotus) within the brain opened fully.

It is only by practice of absolute celibacy full awakening of kundalini becomes possible! Never by any other means can one reach stage of enlightenment ever! Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana... both started their spiritual journey via path of religion... the path of bhakti yoga! At some stage in life both finally switched to path of jnana yoga... the path of absolute wisdom!

It is only the path of jnana yoga that leads to gaining enlightenment in our lifetime! By transmuting the preserved cosmic energies... spiritual energies... sexual energies towards ultimate goal of life human beings finally scaled all barriers of spiritual pursuit... reached the end of cosmic life... the 8.4 millionth manifestation!

Devoid of karma the moment human beings reached stage of enlightenment... the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi... the stage of absolute nothingness... one experienced God all the time! Having reached the stage of enlightenment one remains in permanent communion with God all the time every second of life!

Most experiences of spiritual path can never be expressed in words! They are beyond all comprehension, limitations of wordy usage... the prime reason why contents of Bhagavad-Gita, teachings of Bhagavad-Gita can never be understood... fathomed literally! All sacred Scriptures need reading in between the lines!

The only way to get closer to God is traveling spiritual path... the uncharted path of spirituality... the path that takes one directly into inner core of self... the world of spirit within! By following dictates contained in sacred Bhagavad-Gita of Hinduism human beings finally get closer to God... experience God all the time.

As our kundalini awakens gradually... one nears God step-by-step! Sincere practice of absolute celibacy for a period of 14 years in continuation finally landed me in laps of God Almighty... I realized God in 1993 at 37 years of age! My experiences of the spiritual path... my experiences of God Almighty simply cannot be summed up in words.

What I can say at this stage with authority is... the sacred Bhagavad-Gita of Hinduism is a sure shot method for getting closer to God in ones lifetime. Following the path of absolute truthfulness... eradicating dross impurities within by establishing control over senses... one finally established control over mind. Practicing absolute celibacy all the time one finally experienced God!

Paths to God can be many... as many human beings as many different paths to God can there be yet, it is wisdom contained in Bhagavad-Gita of Hinduism that comes to our rescue. One single document... the 700 shlokas verses contained in Bhagavad-Gita suffice for one reaching the stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana)... and salvation moksha forever!

Liberating self from bondage of life and death is the ultimate crux of life! The sooner we understand it... the better!
