Body Mind Spirit The essence of life... spirit within every human being denotes the presence of a supernatural being... a source of energy not governed nor tamed by the forces of nature. Spirit in true sense is that vital life force existing within every living being without which the body would decay and die. The most commonly used nomenclature for the term spirit is soul atman within the body of every living being. Prarabdha Karma Prarabdha karma is that facet of cosmic life that does not manifest in human life as a predetermined cause. The residual balance of karma in every life manifests itself in the next life for it is the balance of karma of the earlier manifestations that decides what our next manifestation would be. However Prarabdha karma does not manifest itself in the regular routine. Shankara Advaita Vedanta Advaita Vedanta... the doctrine of non dualism is one without a parallel. Propagated in the history of mankind by Adi Shankaracharya... Advaita Vedanta implies one and only one. The philosophy of Advaita Vedanta... the non dual characteristic of the supreme Lord, the Almighty God aka Parmatman in hinduism confirms that the Creator God does not have a dualistic nature. God Brahma Brahma is that attribute of God Almighty which resulted in the creation of the cosmos. Brahma is the Creative power of the cosmos in Hinduism. Brahma is one of the three attributes of God Almighty. The two other attributes being the maintainer (god Vishnu) and the destroyer (god Shiva). Self Realization fellowship Self Realization is the culmination of all things spiritual. It is the end of cosmic journey. Self Realization announces it is time for our soul atman within the body to get liberated forever from the cycle of birth and death. Reaching the stage of Self Realization means reaching the 8.4 millionth manifestation! Define Atman Atman in hinduism is that core of life in absence of which the existence of the body itself gets negated. Atman in hinduism stands for our soul which resides in the heart within the body. For that matter... every single living being... be it the form of an insect, plant or an animal... the presence of atman is a confirmed fact. Bhagavad Gita krishna Bhagavad Gita is the only sacred scripture existing on mother earth knowing which cosmic journey of 8.4 million manifestations comes to an end. The doctrine of Bhagavad Gita was given to the mankind by Lord Krishna in the battlefield of Mahabharata. Big Bang What happened before the big bang, evidence of the big bang theory, what caused the big bang, big bang theory of evolution are some of the questions asked on the Internet today. Define Celibacy As commonly understood Celibacy primarily neither relates to remaining unmarried nor it has anything to do with sexual abstinence alone. Celibacy primarily is practicing purity in a sexual relationship. Absolute practitioners of celibacy may also remain bachelors (unmarried) in life. But remaining unmarried is not the prime requirement of celibacy. Hinduism Sanatana Dharma Hinduism: can be best defined as Sanatana Dharma... something that exists from times immemorial. Hinduism does not have a beginning... it exists ever since Humanity came into existence. The bane of Hinduism is Dharma... which also forms the base of all Religions existing on Mother Earth. No Religion can ever survive without a Dharma. Dharma is the root of all Religions. Why? Hinduism Beliefs basics Hinduism Beliefs: Hinduism believes in the continuity of Life... the death of the body does not mean all is over as per the beliefs in Hinduism. The reincarnation belief is the primary asset of Hinduism. As per Hinduism beliefs our atman the soul within is on a cosmic journey primarily meant for the purification of Atman (eradication of the dross within the soul). It is for this purpose that every Atman the soul within manifests a body again and again until it completely purifies of all the impurities within. Atman Hinduism Soul Atman: Glory be to every individual living being who is here on Mother Earth as a manifested being owing to the atman the soul within it. No soul ... No Life! Atman soul is the Essence of all living beings including insects, plants, trees and animals. All keep on evolving into higher species owing to the inherent evolutionary process existing within every being. Inner self meaning definition Innerself What is your Inner self? What do we mean when we talk of the Inner self? Is it a part of the body or its existence in the body... still a matter of speculation! The Inner self within every living being including human beings is the subtle core present within every being without which the existence of the body itself gets negated. The body is there for our Inner self is there. The Inner self can live without the body but the body cannot sustain on its own. Lord Krishna Who is Krishna God in Hinduism? What is the significance of Lord Krishna vis-à-vis all the sacred Scriptures of Hinduism. What is the role of Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita? Did Krishna ever exist? These are some of the questions I receive through the Internet often. Why is it that we name Krishna as Lord Krishna and not God Krishna? What is the underlying truth? Can any mortal human being be named as Lord Krishna? Commonly we only address almighty creator as Lord and never a human being. Salvation In the cosmic domain salvation is the highest manifest stage that can be reached by a human being nay by the soul atman within. On the earthly domain salvation is termed as completing the journey by our soul atman within. Does this mean that our soul atman within shall no more have to manifest a body again. Yes! The dross within the soul atman having completely removed... the need for this soul atman to manifest a body ceases forever. Shiva Lingam In physical terms lingam denotes an erect penis. Shiva lingam is the most worshipped entity in Hinduism religion. We find Shiva temples having a Shiva lingam installed in them at every nook and corner of India nay world. Why? Shiva... a part of Hindu trinity represents the most powerful attribute of God Almighty (amongst all three entities). The first being Brahma... the creator! The second being Vishnu the maintainer (preserver) and the last being Mahesh (Shiva)... the destroyer! Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa saint of dakshineswar King of the Kings... the savior of mankind... Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa was one of its kinds. Ramkrishna Paramhans... the priest of the dakshineswar temple realized god within his lifetime. He was a contemporary of Maharishi Ramana who also realized god. In the last about 150 years only two persons realized God. They were Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana. Sri Rama krishna Paramhans the famous spiritual master of Swami Vivekananda started his journey towards God traveling the bhakti yoga path. Almighty God God: Almighty God... god the Creator... a Hindu god... an Indian god... a Christian god... be it any god personified... the entity of god shall always remain one. The Creator of the whole Cosmos is one. God Almighty is also one. God is that powerful entity of the cosmos which lies beyond the domain of human beings. Since times immemorial human beings neither have the capability nor that power of discrimination to characterize god based on religion or culture. Agni God of Fire Agni: plays the utmost role in the evolutionary process. When you physically burn an object you externally reduce it to ashes. What of agni Fire burning inside! The Agni in the stomach helps you dissolve all types of food you partake from solids to liquids. The Agni in your head burns out all discarded thoughts and brings purity in your thinking alleviating you to higher planes of spiritual consciousness. Penance, the bane of all Spiritualists is but supported by agni. Acharya Guru Acharya (in terms of spirituality)... the guru... spiritual master is one who fundamentally makes available the jargon of spiritual knowledge to the mankind at large. If there were no Acharyas... the spiritual wisdom would have been limited to the few spiritual masters of the era. Why? Adhyatma Study of atman Adhyatma: study of Atman (The Soul Within) constitutes the most basic and fundamental study of what constitutes the real self of every Human Being and Jiva. Study of the Self involves a thorough study of the various sacred Scriptures of all Religions existing in the World. That would constitute to be a really voluminous task. Aham Ego Aham: is the root cause of this Ephemeral World! No Ego ... One would Emancipate and gain Self Realization, free from the bondage of Life and Death forever. One does Karma ... An inherent force drives one to action! You desire results. What if you were told fruits are not for you to reap! Going on performing your Karma never ever thinking of the results ... How odd it seems! Dissolve your Ego, the basic lesson of Gita the Song Supreme ... Words of wisdom conveyed through Lord Krishna to Humanity about 3500 years ago. Anadi Kaal ever since formation of universe Anadi Kaal: is a term coined in Hindu mythology for a period even before the beginning of cosmos! It is stated in Hindu Scriptures that the Evolution of cosmos had no beginning (anadi kaal). Sooner the collapse of the cosmos takes place, Big Bang occurs giving birth to a new cosmos. This perpetual motion of collapse and restart is controlled by God the Creator. Why question him? Antaratma inner self soul Antaratma: Study of Atman inner self. What is the difference between the physical self and the inner self (antaratma), the domain of atman the soul within? Physical self is the bodily form taken by an Atman the soul within whereas antaratma (the inner self) is the Cosmic truth and non-perishable. The inner self is on its Cosmic journey until full purification of the inner self occurs. Aparigriha non covetousness Aparigriha: every male born in the society has been given a right to choose but one female and that too depends upon the fruits of Karma performed by you. You get to marry the daughter of a King or a laborer is solely dependent on your resultant Karma. Why covet the wife of another (Aparigriha). You may be well off than your neighbor, does not mean you may cast your eyes on the wife of another ... lure her by riches her spouse can neither afford nor offer. Atman Hinduism inner self soul Atman: Glory be to every individual living being who is here on Mother Earth as a manifested being owing to atman the soul within it. No soul ... No Life! Atmanubhooti Personal experience of God Atmanubhooti: is that stage in the Life of a Yogi when all is over with him. Having come face-to-face with God, one is in such a stage of Ecstasy that all World appears dwarfed to him. One does not desire anything further (after Atmanubhooti). He sees and believes in God all the time. No more shaking of Faith. The feeling has now become permanent. You are one with God the Creator. Bhagvad Gita the cosmic wisdom Bhagvad Gita: One doctrine which can change the entire face of mankind and give solace to one and all... and the best part of it is... all are gainers! No losers!! The Essence of all sacred Scriptures existing on Mother Earth... not related to any Religion, creed or caste... the most sacred Doctrine existing on Mother Earth... the Essence of all Humanity! Bhagvad Gita is the first dictation of God Almighty to the mankind through Lord Krishna (considered an Avatar). Big Bang Big Bang is that event in the history of the whole cosmos that without the big bang... the existence of the present cosmos would never have been possible. A cosmos without a Cosmos... it is only for an umpteenth moment of a second... the time between the dissolution of cosmos (called Pralaya in Hinduism) and the start of a fresh Cosmos with the big bang that there exists nothing but an absolute blank. Brahman Almighty God Brahman: is totally different from the Gods we pray to in our normal course of Life. To comprehend the reality of the Absolute (Brahman) is just banned to ordinary Human Beings. Those on a path towards Self, God-Realization get a glimpse of his domain now and then ... the divine link which keeps the spark of self inquiry glowing within! Brahmacharya vrata celibacy vow of celibacy Brahmacharya vrat: is the most fundamental requirement to be followed truthfully, sincerely and honestly for a period of full twelve years in continuation. A single break would render the austere practice useless. All would have to be repeated again. Sage Vishwamitra fell from grace and had to undergo the rigorous practice again when he got attracted towards a lady taking bath in the most sensuous environment ... by the lake in a forlorn jungle. Had he practiced control at this stage, he would have equaled Sage Vashisht but so was not to be. Brahmaand Universe Cosmos Brahmaand: brahmand stands for the total Creation existing ... perceptible by our senses, science and beyond all comprehension up to the last stretches of entity covered by evolution. To envision the vast area covered by total Cosmos, we have to start from the level of a Human Being. human beings imagine and live within a notion that earth is the end of all. Comparing the planet Earth with the size of Cosmos we ultimately realize the absolute truth ... planet earth forms part of a cluster of nine planets revolving around Sun, a small star. Daan Charity Donation Daan: donation is that important aspect of the Life of a Human Being which provides him solace even when one gives away his most precious possessions. Daan is meant to propitiate sins of the yester years. You ask Forgiveness from the Lord for all sins committed knowingly or unknowingly in this or earlier lives. Death Death has always been the most dreaded factor of life for any living being. It is not only the humans who are afraid of death... animals and other forms of life also feel the same! What makes death the most fearful of all attributes of God? There is none who can defy death. Only after gaining self realization and enlightenment that one becomes immortal. It is this stage when the fear of death vanishes for ever. Every God realized Master and an enlightened individual finally overcomes death. Dukkha Definition Disheartened sadness Dukkha: is the feeling of unhappiness which overtakes when you occur some loss! It may be the loss of a Life, Material riches or any other factor with which one associates his happiness! Dukkha is other side of the coin of Life! Unless you feel it, you can never comprehend happiness in its right measure!! Both the factors are a Creation of God ... To keep live stock in check! This system forms the basic building block of the cosmos! Dharma Definition Dharma: is the root from where stemmed the present Civilizations ... their Faiths, beliefs and practices! The origin of all Cultures and Religions ... Dharma is the Eternal guiding force which guided the first Human Being on Earthly journey! Jiva Being Jiva: who is a jiva! Every being with atman the soul within is known as a jiva. It has been destined by God the Creator that Jiva never plays an independent role in its Lifetime. It is always prompted by atman the soul within. A jiva is formed when an Atman manifests a body. Jiva is concerned only with one Life, the physical part of Life as seen and controlled by the senses and limited by about hundred years. Whereas Atmans Souls are Cosmic travelers with a maximum of 8.4 Million Life spans to manifest in one cosmic Life span. Jnana eternal knowledge Jnana: is totally different from the knowledge of the physical World gained through the senses! To live in this World it is totally essential to have knowledge of the things we perceive through the senses. Sciences help us to evolve as a perfect Human Being but, to enter the domain of God the Creator of the cosmos ... Esoteric knowledge, the knowledge of the Spiritual realm is a must!! This knowledge of the Para normal in the various sacred Scriptures is known as ‘jnana’. Jnana can also be termed as wisdom ... the knowledge divine which propels us to pay Obeisance to our maker and Creator. Jnana Yoga path of wisdom Jnana Yoga: path of wisdom is that path in Spirituality rarely treaded by even the most serious of all seekers. With none to guide, it is extremely difficult for one to proceed on this path. Only God-Realized Souls are competent to guide one on the path. How many such Souls are present in mankind at a given moment of time... maximum one or two! Kaal cosmic time factor Kaal: the Eternal time factor, the controller of destiny of all beings on Mother Earth ... Is responsible for maintaining the balance, an equilibrium in the physical manifested World of ours. Someone dies, atman the soul within leaves the body. Where does it go? It remains in this World but in a dimension unseen by us. Who takes care of this happening? Prompted by the resultant Karma of a Jiva at any given moment of time, Kaal (the eternal time factor) performs this act by bringing about the death of one. Kaivalya Jnana the absolute knowledge Kaivalya Jnana: is the Eternal wisdom on achieving which every Human Being Emancipates forever. A stage in Life when a Human Being rises above the mundane and gains those Spiritual Heights wherein nothing more is left to learn. All is Jnana, Kevala (only) Jnana (wisdom and only wisdom)! Kali Yuga the age of Kali Kali Yuga is a period in the history of mankind when the society reaches its lowest ebb. It becomes difficult even for the animals to live what to say of human beings. The trust among individuals depleting fast... comes a time when the society cannot sustain further! A time when mankind looks forward to the coming of an avatar of the era (someone of the potential of God Almighty himself manifesting on Mother Earth as a human being). Kali Yuga is the age of the kali... a period of reckoning and upheaval. Sri Kalki Bhagavan 10th incarnation of Vishnu Bhagwan Kalki... the 10th reincarnation of Lord Vishnu... the last avatar of the era... one who delivers the mankind from the ills of today is awaited with abated breath. A phenomenon who shall be rightly termed as one-man army... the Crusader who shall set things in order shall be known as Kalki... the annihilator of the present Kali Yuga the metal age... one without a parallel. Kalpa Vriksha the wishing tree Kalpa Vriksha: the wish tree is one of those prized possessions of the earlier era when Humanity was in its infant stages. Science was practically non-existent and for Human Beings to survive, a source was needed to fulfill its basic requirements and necessities. At this stage, there were Kalpa Vrikshas spread all over so that one could ask for anything one wished and all wishes were fulfilled then and there. Kama Sutra kamasutra Kama: Kamasutra: Venus, the Goddess of love rules this sensational feeling. Overcome with Kama can a man loose complete control of his senses and commit crimes of most heinous nature. Feeling passionate, the carnal desires seeking pleasure from anything sexual, desire to be one with the opposite sex, the act which leads to production of offsprings are all but attributes of kama ... The nature and conduct of absolute Cupid, the God of love. Karma Karma is that fundamental aspect of life which runs in the background yet controls the manifest destiny of every living being. Without karma the cosmic creation of almighty God, the cosmos itself would not exist. No individual being has his personal karma. As is being preached in the West... no individual ever has karma. The readings of karma can never be recorded by one. Nor can the best of astrologers and seers tell from experience what would be the shape of our karma in the future. Karma Sutra karmasutra Karma: is the most grossly misunderstood word in all of Scriptural texts. The literal meaning of the word as explained to the masses by Pundits is its relation to the physical concept of a being. You perform Karma as a physical manifested being and this shall suffice your journey to the Swarga Heaven ... Provided you earn Punya Karma! Karta creator of the cosmos Karta: creator of the cosmos is one. Call it by the name of Brahman, Bhagwan, Prabhu or Parmatma the Karta (Creator) of the whole cosmos shall ever remain one. Consider it having a form or a form less being, a mighty computer preset to function based on the Karma of all individual beings ... it never interferes with the Karma or the Destiny of one. Krodha anger Krodha: unable to control this basic instinct present in every Human since birth ... Is the foremost of all ills practiced by Human Beings today. Cause of differentiation between an ordinary Human Being and a man of wisdom, this is the last of all instincts controlling which every Human Being can become a living God ... A true Mahavira, Buddha or a Jesus Christ! Kundalini Yoga kundalini awakening Kundalini is the most potent form of yoga one shall come across while proceeding on the path of spirituality. It is most surprising that in my case I was not required to awaken my Kundalini as it was only after having realized God that I became aware that my Kundalini had fully awakened. Lingam the erect penis Lingam: Shiva Lingam is symbolic of the Creative Power of the Universe. By controlling the mundane desires, even the most bestial of beings can rise and conquer the World. Coupled with full zeal and enthusiasm after establishing absolute control over ones sexual urges ... one is able to divert and control all his energies towards a particular goal. Mahabharata dharma yuddha Mahabharata: mahabharat the most wonderful Epic ever written in the history of mankind! Only through Mahabharata does one come to know of Gita, the song Eternal ... The messages of Cosmic wisdom conveyed by Lord Krishna to Arjuna in the battlefield of Kurushetra!! Maya Veil of Ignorance Maya: what separates a Human Being from God the Creator! Can we see the stars in daylight. One who has seen only day light would never believe the existence of stars. What makes us believe half truth as the only Truth!! The limited intellectual knowledge gained through five senses prompts us in believing this World to be the only Truth. Manifest Destiny The destiny of a human being is fixed or variable. Can the control of destiny be exercised by one! Is it possible for a normal human being to take complete control of his destiny? Is it possible to manifest destiny? Dharma Dharma is that Elixir vitae of the cosmic system in absence of which life cannot sustain on its own. Dharma is the root cause of life be it the form of an insect, plant, animal or a human being. Enlightened Being In present life the entity enlightened beings is normally referred to those who have enlightened themselves in the field of poetry, art, mysticism, Spirituality and any other facet of life which is creative and constructive in nature. Spiritual Enlightenment Enlightenment is something what we have been born for! The entire process of a soul atman manifesting a body right from the first manifestation as an amoeba and until the last leg of the journey (the total journey of 8.4 million manifestations) was the requisite of our soul atman for without it our soul atman could not have survived. Hope and Faith Faith is that power of discrimination made available to mankind by God Almighty using which a human being can not only reach God but accomplish tasks considered unachievable. Hindu God God is that subtle truth of life without which humanity nay any existence of life on Mother Earth could not exist. Reaching God is reaching the end of cosmic journey! One can always feel the presence of God but having reached stage of enlightenment it is only enlightened beings that come face-to-face with God in their lifetime! Meditation Yoga in hindi Meditation: Anyone with a slight Spiritual inclination would say with confidence that one meditates daily. Ask them the right procedure for Meditation ... most would stare blank! One may say, Meditation means concentrating on the core of a lighted bulb in a darkened room. Others may put forward, "trying to concentrate on nothingness ... a state when no thought remains in the body". Fewer still would say," concentrating on your atman the soul within". How! Is what eludes them all. You can meditate perfectly well if you knew the meaning of word " Meditation". Moha deep emotional attachment Moha: moh to any object is infested with and becomes the root cause of most harm inflicted on the society!!! One who leads a Life with unattached attitude is able to maintain a balance between the physical manifested Life (the mundane existence) and the Spiritual component propelled by Atman (the soul) within. Inherent in all beings ... Moha towards the blood relations is a deep rooted trait of character! None can come out of its clutches. When a child is born it is reared by the parents ... Had the parents no moha towards the child ... proper upbringing of the child would become questionable!! Moksha Salvation Moksha: moksh is the stage when an Enlightened Human being .... Who has Realized Self decides to leave the body ... To become free of all manifestations ever! Freed from the cycle of Birth and Death, the Human being in its pristine glory ... A purified Atman soul ... Finds place finally in the abode of God the Creator of the cosmos (the place from where it started its journey)! Mrityu Death end of Life Mrityu: is the only factor most feared and dreaded by all living beings. No one wants to die. All want to live forever, become immortal. Can that be? When God created the system, it had to possess within its being the power to change. Without change all would look monotonous and Life itself would stagnate. What is the meaning of Life ... To grow from within! Thus was built a tendency to evolute, within every form and being. If one stops performing his Karma, the inherent tendency of evolution keeps us going. The in built hunger in a Human Being makes one work. Mukti Liberation Mukti as defined in hinduism denotes the end of cosmic life itself. Reaching the stage of Mukti means reaching the stage of salvation as in Buddhism! Mukti is a word coined in hinduism for liberation. Liberation from the cycle of birth and death forever! Reaching the stage of enlightenment... the moment the atman soul leaves the body it is stated that one has attained Mukti liberation forever. Reaching the stage of Mukti is completing the cosmic life cycle. It is the end in itself for a serious seeker of spirituality. Namaskar Bowing Namaskar: namashkar is the indian way of greeting one when one meets face-to-face with another. There is a vast difference in the western mode of shaking hands and the Hindu way of saying Namaste with clasped hands. Naraka Hell Naraka: narak located on Mother Earth ... The abode of those unfortunate ones who owing to ignorance committed sin after sin only to land themselves in the land of punishment. Nimitta predestined course of life Nimitta: the physical after effect of Niyati (predestined Life) is Nimitta ... what was ordained is bound to happen. Changeover of Niyati in a Life-cycle by a Human Being is as difficult as climbing of Mt. Everest by an elephant. The Cosmic system is different from the World of Maya (illusion) ... our physical manifested World. Nirvikalpa Samadhi State of absolute nothingness Nirvikalpa Samadhi: nirvikalp samadhi is the culmination of all practices that are Spiritual. The achievement of a goal where one meets the Creator of all Essence, comes face-to-face with his own atman the soul within which is of the same Essence as Brahman (the Creator of the cosmos). Niyati Predestined Niyati: What was predestined (fixed by Niyati) cannot be changed or interfered in even by God Almighty. As per your balance Karmas if you are predestined to be born in the house of a black Smith ... can one change your destiny and arrange your birth in the house of a King! None! Only you (your atman, the soul within) has the power to perform such Karmas in the present Life that you get to be born as a prince in next Life. Omkar aum om Omkar: Aum is the medium by which every atman soul connects itself with the Creator of the cosmos. Every Yogi, Mystic or a Sadhu chants this word again and again to rise higher and higher on the Cosmic plane. One has to maintain absolute purity of thought to reap the fruits of practicing such austerities. Paapi committer of sin Paapi: papi is one who is unable able to differentiate absolute truth from all that is Sinful ... actions required to be abhorred under all circumstances.Such ignorants (Paapi) are required to be pitied rather than punished for the doer of all actions is atman the soul within and not the egoist body!
